1960-2005
Sozzi compares the micro and the macrocosm, recalling that the living share the same landscape made of shapes and shades. We are part of a single universe: tragic and enchanting, perpetually poised between dream and reality.
Highlights
The Informali series comes at the beginning of the sixties, years in which artistic trends converge towards an increasingly intense dematerialisation of the object. Experiments on colour and shape are also becoming stronger in Sozzi. “His” space expands and expands by looking at nature as a fluid material that reflects itself, where inner spaces merge with the outside world. Here the seabed echoes cosmic constellations, glowing magma follows in the footsteps of sunny deserts.

Abstract

Through the eyes of the art critics of his time, Alessio Sozzi’s creations found profound recognition. These reflections offer unique insights into his artistic journey, capturing the essence of his work and its impact on the art world.
Extracted from the scattered thoughts of Alessio Sozzi, his notes and his poems, these words tell of his works as noone else could have done.
“My research pursues fantasy, the imagination of a concrete, living dream, articulated by forms that move in a distant dimension where the gaze is lost in the void, crossing the air and light.
My imagination, the daughter of a disruptive emotion, alerts my instinct to move and the work begins to live.
There are no planes, everything moves due to the energy developed by colors, everything joins solidly between one color and another. “
